ROSANNA Di Michele brings the ABRUZZO lifestyle to Di Palo's Imports (Wine and Cheese Shops) by Philip S. Kampe

ROSANA Di Michele is an icon in ABRUZZO.

LOU DI PALO is an icon in NEW YORK.

ROSANNA combines local spices, cheese, meats, fish and produce and turns them into harmonious dishes, using Abruzzo's number one olive oil, LA SELVOTTA.

LOU DI PALO imports authentic Italian products including cheese, salumi and olive oil.

TOGETHER they are introducing Azienda Agricola LA SELVOTTA olive oil to the United States.

ROSANNA is a 'WORLD CLASS' chef who cooks exclusively with LA SELVOTTA.

In the VASTO region of ABRUZZO, near the Adriatic Sea, three generations of the SPUTORE family have produced Extra Virgin, Single Varietal and DOP olive oils. LA SELVOTTA is produced from NEBBIO di CHIETI olives, which are harvested by hand and are mechanically pressed within 12 hours of harvest. The processing takes place at the company's oil mill using millstones and cold extraction.

Located on 75 acres, the olive farm is roughly one mile from the Adriatic. Sea breezes enhance the flavor of the the olive oil (like wine).

The light green olive oils from LA SELVOTTA are low in acidity and fragrant with hints of mint, raspberry and almond.

ROSANNA will give a FREE ABRUZZO cooking demonstration using LA SELVOTTA olive oil and a Chef Recommended Special DeCecco Pasta, TRAFILATA al BRONZO, at DI PALO'S Imports, 200 Grand Street, in New York's Little Italy section.

The event takes place on Sunday,January 15th from 2 to 5pm.

LOU Di Palo's son, SAM, has opened a trendy wine shop adjacent to the main store. SAM carries numerous wines from ABRUZZO, which will complement the artisanal food Chef ROSANNA Di Michele will cook at the demonstration.

The wines from ABRUZZO are household names, including MONTEPULCIANO d'ABRUZZO COLLINE TERAMANE (DOCG); CONTROQUERRA (DOC); TREBBIANO d'ABRUZZO(DOC) and MONTEPULCIANO d'ABRUZZO (DOC).

Lou Di Palo only sells quality goods.

I attended a private tasting of Rosanna's creations last night and was amazed at her ability to create a palate of flavors with so few ingredients. Her demonstration on Sunday is an event for your taste buds not to miss.
